Send Your RUPTURE Cases

TRUSS
The Bunker Truss is
composed of many parts
which make it possible to
adapt the truss effective-
ly to absolutely any and
every form of hernia. Each
case of rupture is individ-
ualized and a truss assem-
bled to suit each individu-
al case. The pads are
made all sizes, all shapes,
and of different materials,
such as wood, water, or
combination metals; some
of the pads are covered
with felt, velvet, etc.
The water pad is a won-
derful mechanism. In this
pad when you turn a screw
one way you make the pad
hard; when you turn it the
other way, you make it
soft. These pads vary in shape so that a pad can be used to suit any case.
Some of the pads have three springs, some have five and if heavy pressure
is needed at one end of the pad heavy springs can be used there and light
springs where light pressure is needed.
The little spiral springs are the things that give the truss its distinguish-
ing qualities. They are the agency that maintains the pressure. They are
made of phosphor bronze with the temper rolled in and are of varying de-
grees of strength, and are formed into a mechanism that fits into the pad,
strong or light springs being selected according to the requirements of each
case to be fitted.
These springs regulate the degree of pressure, releasing or increasing it
as the movements of the body require. For instance, when lifting heavy
weights the muscles of the abdomen stand out and their size increases; this
is the time that a rupture needs strong support and this is just the time
when the Bunker Truss increases its pressuie; when the muscles relax the
truss also relaxes its pressure. No other truss will do thi-s

PREFACE
T N presenting the twelfth volume of the Medical Directory
of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, the Medical
Society of the State of New York has endeavored to present
the best Medical Directory possible of these three States.
In compiling the list of Physicians in New York State, the
resolution of the House of Delegates passed on May 19, 1906,
has been strictly complied with, viz. :
"Resolved, That in the Medical Directory of New York,
New Jersey and Connecticut, published by the Medical
Society of the State of New York, only the names of regis-
tered physicians be inserted."
The Medical Society of the State of New York will con-
sider it a favor if any one finding errors in this book will
report the same, so that they may be corrected in future
editions.
The total number of physicians in lists contained in
Volume XII of the Medical Directory is 17,416, of which
13,474 are in New York State, 2,558 in New Jersey, 1,384 in
Connecticut. Of the 13,474 physicians in New York State,
5,104 are credited to Manhattan and Bronx, 1,803 to Brooklyn,
198 to Queens. 64 to Richmond, a total for Greater New York
of 7,169. which makes the number of physicians residing in
the rest of the State 6,305.
