PREFACE
TX presenting the ninth volume of the Medical Directory
OF Xew York_, Xew Jersey and Coxxecticut, the Medical
Society of the State of Xew York has endeavored to present
the best Medical Directory possible of these three States.
In compiling the list of physicians in Xew York State, the
resolution of the House of Delegates passed on May 19, 1906,
has been strictly complied with, viz. ;
"Resolved, That in the Medical Directory of Xew York,
Xew Jersey axd Connecticut, published by the Medical
Societj'- of the State of X^'ew York, only the names of regis-
tered physicians be inserted."
The Medical Society of the State of X^ew York will con-
sider it a favor if any one finding errors in this book will
report the same, so that they may be corrected in future
editions.
The total number of physicians in lists contaiued in
Volume IX of the Medical Directory is 15,775, of which
12,168 are in Xew York State, 2,317 in X'ew Jersey, 1,292 in
Connecticut. Of the 12,168 physicians in X^ew York State,
4,376 are credited to Manhattan and Bronx, 1,589 to Brooklyn,
129 to Queens, 62 to Richmond, a total for Greater Xew York
of 6,156, which makes the number of physicians residing in
the rest of the State 6,012.
