PREFACE

This is the tenth edition of the Montana Health Data Book and
Medical Facilities Inventory.

The Montana Health Data Book and Medical Facilities Inventory
makes available health information and health utilization
data. The Data Book and Facilities Inventory is a guide to
assist the public and health professionals in the conduct of
their work and pursuit of health planning interests.

The extensive nature of health data for Montana makes it
impossible to impart all the data in a concise and brief
presentation, so in an effort to make this health data acces-
sible, we mention the following agencies and their respective
data responsibilities:

1. The Montana Hospital Association:
Expenditure data and financial information.

2. Montana Hospitals Rate Review System:
Information on charges for their member
hospitals.

3. Records and Statistics Bureau: Vital
Statistics Reports.

4. The Montana Foundation for Medical Care:
Medicare and Medicaid information -
diagnostic and special studies.

5. The Emergency Medical Services Bureau;
Information about emergency personnel,
ambulances, and training of personnel.

6. Montana Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Inc.:
Intermediary for Medicare Cost Reports and finan-
cial and revenue information for Montana hospitals
and also information about their subscribers.

•7. The Department of Social and Rehabilita-
tion Services: Information about nursing
homes and Medicaid Information.

8. The Department of Commerce (Census and
Economic Information Center): Census
information.
