scendants have been among the fastest in the world^ His name
'appears frequently on the land records ot Queens Co - ty^ His
wife was an able writer for the papers. He left a large estate.

Rev. James Milnor, St. George's Protestant Episcopal Church,
corner Beekman and Cliff streets, New York City, 13th June,
1820, Eliza Earl Parker, born Pearl street. New York City, nth
February, 1797, died of old age, 28th April, 1882, buried by side of
husband, daughter of Col. William Parker of England and New
York. Residence, New York City, New York; 1805, No. 361 4th
Street; about 1836, built No. 29 East 4th Street, where he died.
Merchant. Since 1832, owned farm on Rumson Road, Shrews-
bury, New Jersey, opposite Belknap Park. His name appears on
the land records at Philadelphia, Penn.; also Saratoga county,
New York. He left will, New York county Wills, 158:222; wife's
will, 303:276.

53. William' Tredwell (Samuel,' Benjamin,* Thomas,' John,'
Edward'), born North Hempstead, Long Island, 8th April, 1766,
died Success, North Hempstead, 5th May, 1818, buried 6th May,
Row F, Christ's churchyard, Manhasset, Long Island ; married
by Rev. Thomas L. Moore, South Hempstead (present Hemp-
stead), 22nd March, 1787, Winifred Smith of North Hempstead,
born 6th August, 1763, died Success, Sunday, 19th September,
1830, it is said of great grief over death, two days before, of her
daughter, Susan Woolley. Winifred (Smith) Tredwell was bur-
ied 20th September, by side of husband, and was daughter of
Isaac and Phebe (Marvin) Smith. Residence, Success, North
Hempstead, Long Island, homestead owned, 1890, by grandson
Alexander Woolley ; about 1794, the house was used for services
by Dutch Reformed Church. He probably attended the Epis-
copal church at Manhasset ; wife, communicant of St. George's
Church, Hempstead. In United States census, 1790. See Queens
county Deeds, N:353. Administration was granted on his estate
to his widow, 4th August, 1819, Queens county Administrations,

Hempstead, New York, 8th February, 1769, died New York City,
New York, of "malignant fever," 5 A. M., ist October, 1798;
married Maria Van Winkle. Residence, Aquackanonk, New
Jersey ; then New York City ; widow probably residing near
Kingston, New York, 1804. Physician. Administration on his
estate was granted to his father and brother William, i8th Jan-
uary, 1799, New York County Administrations, 6:59. In James
Hardie's list of burials from August i-November 4, 1798, in
''An Account of the Malignant Fever Lately Prevalent in the City
of New York, printed 1799, James' Tredwell's name appears with
the following memoranda, " Physician, 130 Fly-market, aged 30."

City, New York, Sunday night, between 12 and i, 21st March,
1813, buried 23rd March in southwest corner of St. Paul's church-
yard, New York City ; married, probably in Flushing, Long
Island, 2nd May, 1799, Sarah Hewlett of Great Neck, North
Hempstead, Long Island, born 14th January, 1778, died 20th
July, 181 7, buried 22nd July, on Joseph L. Hewlett's farm, Great
Neck, remains and stone removed to All Saints' churchyard,
Great Neck, daughter of Lawrence and Charity (Peters) Hewlett.
Residence, New York City, 76 Mott Street, 1802. Sea captain.
Admitted to The Marine Society of the City of New York, 14th
April, 1794, Certificate Number, 12 14. Upon his death widow
had to petition the Society for help, her husband having met
many heavy losses in latter part of his life, and she was placed
on the pension list, nth April, 1814. He left a will, New York
County Wills, 50:520.

Caroline (Adriance) Piatt of Smithtown and Plattsburgh, N. Y.
He moved to Clinton county, N. Y., with his father, but soon
settled, building the first house and mill, in Seignory of L'Orig-
inal, Canada, which came into his possession about 1794, his
estate there being later confiscated because of his refusal to
swear allegiance to Great Britain during 181 2 War, for which he
was also imprisoned at St. John, Lower Canada. When released,
he returned to Plattsburgh, N. Y., and ran the Treadwell's Mills
(lumber) on Saranac River. These were swept away by a
freshet in 1830. At this period he resided on the south side of
the river in a large 2-story house, which was later purchased by
J. D. Woodward and removed to Morrisonville. After the

freshet he moved to Broad St., Plattsburgh; then, about ? 840, he
