Richard Powell has 181 Atres. 19 YL^. of land laid out upon his
right

Note that Amos Powell in and by his last Will and Testament
devised all his rights of undivided lands in the purchase of Beth-
phage to his six Brothers to be equally divided amongst them
whereof Richard Powell is one so that Richard Powell has now
the one sixth part of his Fathers right (viz of Thomas Powell ye
second deceased) in the ensuing division

Laid out unto Richard Powell the piece of land whereon his
house now standeth the bounds where of is thus described. Be-
ginning at the Southeast corner of the said piece near where the
house now stands on the North side of the Country Road joyning
to said Road and thence running North three degrees East twenty
eight rods and thence North sixty eight degrees West seventeen
rods and two thirds of a rod to a white oak tree standing by the
East side of a pond (formerly called by the Indians Mescopass)
the bounds standing and concluded to be between Bethphage pur-
chase and a purchase formerly made by Thomas Jones deceased
and company and from the said White oak tree running through
the pond by a line that shall include the one half thereof so thence
South seventy degrees and one half West about thirty eight rods
to the edge of the plains and thence South eighty degrees East
{sic) rods to the said old road and thence South eighty one degrees
and one half East fifty six rods and fifteen Hnks to the first bounds
Containing seven acres and one half of land Note the words (and
thence North sixty eight degrees West seventeen rods and two
thirds of a rod) interlined between the fifth and sixth lines before
the work was finished

Note This piece of land above was laid out before the decease
of Amos Powell so that Richards right is the sixth part of his
Fathers right after this piece laid out in the general purchase
Also Richard has John Powells Right [James Smith sells the
Right in common after he had taken up some land to Richard Powell
see page 45] {The preceding zvords here shown in brackets, are in
margin of the Copy, Tvith an asterisk to locate them, and pre-
sumably so in the original) Northward of the road that leads by
his house along Eastward to the Round Swamp so called Richard
has Elishas Right Northward of the Country Road between the
East end of ye lot N° 83 where it touches the road and the plains
and Northward up Mannat Hill Hollow and to the extent of the

ten links of chain to a stake, which said line runs between two
wells on the brushey plain including the Westermost well of water
which said stake stands by the highway that runs up Mannatto

Bethphage purchase and the purchase formerly made by Tho^
Jones and company and from said white oak tree running North
forty eight degrees and one half East fifty five rods and five links
of chain thence North fifty five degrees East eighty four rods
thence North fifty two degrees East forty seven rods thence North
forty eight degrees East twenty rods and thence South nineteen
degrees East to the highway that goes up Mannatto Hill Hollow

1770 Witnesseth That we the subscribers the proprietors and own-
ers of the greatest part of that tract of land lying at a place called
Pine Hill in Bethphage purchase including and taking in the said
Pine Hill joyning to the Northeast side of the Highway or Country
Road called Conklings path Beginning at the Southwest or West-
ermost corner thereof thence running North sixty nine degrees and
a quarter East seventy four rods to a red oak tree thence North
fifty nine degrees East seventy six to a red oak tree thence South
sixteen degrees West thirty two rods thence South twelve degrees
West thirty two rods thence South thirty two degrees and a quarter
East fifty eight rods & seven links thence South fifty four degrees
East nineteen rods to a stake thence South thirty eight degrees West
sixteen rods & eleven links thence South thirty five degrees West
forty six rods thence South twenty three degrees West two rods to
the said Country Road or Conklings Path thence running by that
road to the place of beginning Containing in the whole tract about

land But it is to be understood that John Powells

Right which is a third of two thirds of the above bounded piece of
land is not sold to Richard Powell as all the other part is sold to him
to pay the charge of the last division of Bethphage lands made in the
year 1768, John Powells Right in said piece that is not sold is about
fifteen Acres three quarters and twenty seven rods be it more or
less, and all the other part that is sold to Richard Powell contains
about fifty five acres two quarters and thirty nine rods be it more
or less

Now this writing testifieth that we the said subscribers for and
in consideration of the sum of Twenty two pounds currant money
of New York to us in hand paid by the said Richard Powell have
for us and our heirs & assigns granted bargained sold conveyed and
— (p. 235) — confirmed unto the said Richard Powell and to his
heirs and assigns forever All our right title and interest in the
said tract of land above mentioned with all ye appurtenances there-
unto belonging
