There are one hundred and one (101) authorized interlocking
plants in operation in Minnesota, ninety-two (92) are manually
operated mechanical plants, having a machine capacity of 2,172
levers, with 1,830 working levers. Nine (9) are manually controlled
and electrically operated, having a machine capacity of 338 levers
with 219 working levers, as follows:

Waseca, Waseca County — Crossing of Minneapolis & St. Louis
and Chicago & North Western Railways. Chicago & North Western
train ran through gates May, 1914. Same were repaired and re-
stored to service June, 1914.

AUTOMATIC BLOCK SIGNALS.

New automatic block signal system installations were inspected
by the engineering department and approved by the Commission,
viz.:

Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway — Between Glencoe, Mc-
Leod county, and Cologne, Carver county. Purposing protection
for 19.5 miles of double main track roadway; twenty-two (22) sig-
nal locations. License issued February 25, 1914.

Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway — Between Hastings, Da-
kota county, and Red Wing, Goodhue county. Purposing protec-
tion for twenty-one miles of double main track roadway ; twenty-four
(24) signals. Conditional service. License issued January 3, 1914.

Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway — Between Red Wing,
Goodhue county, and Wabasha, Wabasha county. Purposing pro-
tection for thirty (30) miles of double main track roadway; twenty-
eight (28) signals. License issued March 2, 1914.

Great Northern Railway Company — Between Clearwater Junc-
tion and Long Lake, Hennepin county. Purposing protection for
fourteen and eight-tenths (14.8) miles of double main track roadway
and seventy-five one-hundredths (.75) miles of single main track
roadway; twenty-nine (29) signals. License issued March 26, 1914.

Great Northern Railway Company — Between state line interlock-
ing tower and loop tower, Carlton county. Purposing protection
for two and eight-tenths (2.8) miles of single main track roadway ;
three (3) signals. License issued November 30, 1914.

Northern Pacific Railway Company — Between St. Paul and
White Bear, Ramsey county. Purposing protection for ten and one-
half (10*4) miles of double main track roadway; twenty-two (22)
signals. License issued April 27, 1914.

Northern Pacific Railway Company — Between Bald Eagle, Ram-
sey county, and Carlton, Carlton county. Purposing protection for
one hundred eighteen and three-tenths (118.3) miles of single main
track roadway; one hundred and ninety-nine (199) signals. License
issued July 29, 1914.

Northern Pacific Railway Company — Between Carlton, Carlton
county, and West Duluth (Sixty-fourth Avenue), St. Louis county.
Purposing protection for fifteen and six-tenths (15.6) miles of single
main track roadway; thirty-five (35) signals. License issued July
29, 1914.

Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway — Between Wabasha,
Wabasha county, and Minnesota City, Winona county. Purposing
protection for twenty-seven and one-tenth (27.1) miles of double
track main line roadway; thirty-one (31) signals.

Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway — Between Minnesota
City, Winona county, and bridge switch, Houston county. Purpos-
ing protection for twenty-nine and five-tenths (29.5) miles of double
main track roadway; thirty-eight (38) signals.

AUTOMATIC BLOCK SIGNALED TRACK IN OPERATION IN MINNE-
SOTA.

There are 453.07 miles of double main track roadway and 261.61
miles of single main track roadway equipped with automatic block
signal systems in Minnesota, as shown by table "E" follows:

Avenue to short line bridge interlocker, Minneapolis. (Switching
line.) Inspected August 7, 1914.

Great Northern Railway Company — Brookston to state line (St.
Louis and Carlton counties). Inspected October 14 and 15, 1914.

Great Northern Railway Company— St. Paul (Seventh Street
viaduct) to Minneapolis (stone arch bridge), near Great Northern
passenger station. Inspected October 20, 1914.

INSPECTION OF NEW RAILWAYS.

New lines of railway, having a total main roadway mileage of
450,621 miles, were inspected by the engineering department at the
direction of the Commission and for which official operating permits
were duly granted to the several railway companies by the Commis-
sion for the operation of same in accordance with section 2032 of
the Revised Laws of 1905, as amended by chapter 260 of the General
Laws of 1907, as amended by chaper 126 of the General Laws of
1913.

of these new lines :
