six years in York Castle (before going to Rome). According

to Camm (Martyrs, p. 571) he was at first in Anglican orders.

Went to Douay, Feb. 3, 1576-7; and thence to the English

College at Rome. Laboured as a priest in Lanes, and Yorks.

for several years. He then left the Romish Church and became
