Marriages at Knapwell,

1598 to 1812.

Note.— The Maniagcs arc contnincd in two volumes, llie second bcinR
that required by Lord Hardwick's Act, containing Banns and
Marriages. At the lieginning of Volume 1., a paper book, is this
note : " John Bird, Rector of this parish of Knapwell, was inducted
into this Rectory upon the 14th of August in the year 1679. And
afterward gave this book to the Town of Knapwell in the year 1C83.
faithfully collecting the Burials in woollen out of a paper book, and
transcribing them at the other end of this book. And also transcribing
the Christenings out of a parchment book from the year i68o to this
present year 1683, wherein he began to be Register himself." The
earliest Marriage recorded is in 1695. There is also a good list of briefsi
This transcript has been made by Rev. E. Young ; the Rector the
Parish, the Rev. M. S. Kemmis, has given permission to print.
