Marriages at Hickling,

1657 to 1812.

Note. — The Marriages at Hickling are contained in three books, viz. :

Vol. I is I ft. 4|in. long, and 6 in. wide, and contains the Baptisms,
Burials, and Marriages from 1653 to 17 16— the latter do not begin
until 1657. There are 47 leaves of parchment, of which the first
is a title page. The leaves have been numbered apparently in
error, as there is no leaf 16, although the entries follow on in date ;
neither is there leaf 19, one side of 20 is blank, and there is no
leaf 22, but the entries follow on from leaf 21 to 23. There are no
leaves 24, 25, 26, or 33, and on page 27 the Weddings begin.

Vol. II consists of 28 leaves of parchment, which have been
numbered in ink, but there are no pages 14 and 15, although
the entries follow on in proper order : there is no leaf 20. The
same book contains Baptisms and Burials from 1716 to 1772 :
the Weddings begin at page 17.

Vol. Ill is the usual volume of printed forms.

These extracts, from the original Register, were made by Mr.
Frederic Johnson, of Norwich, with the permission of Rev. A.
N. T. Crosse, Vicar, and are now printed under his supervision.
